Catholic Education Office staff and principals from Wilcannia-Forbes parish schools with Tricia Ward and Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green holding the strategic plan in front.Catholic School principals fromacross the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese are thrilled to welcome a new and exciting strategic plan.

Mr Anthony Morgan presented the plan, titled ‘Christo et Doctrinae’, to Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green in the presence of the principals following a mass at St Laurence O’Toole’s Church last Tuesday.

Mr Morgan said the plan is about faith and learning and describes what has to be done.

“Christo et Doctrinae cements the future of Catholic education in the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese,” he said.

“It gives us a way to look forward after many years of uncertainty about the future of our diocese.”

Consultant Dr Terry McCarthy developed the first drafts of the plan after leading over 100 listening assemblies across the diocese.

“The listening assemblies gave everyone in the diocese an opportunity to have their voice heard,” Mr Morgan said.

“We spoke to children, parents, parishioners, teachers and staff, and we found a very strong sense of unity, identity and pride from the people of the Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese.

The Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes is geographically large and diverse.

It includes 18 parish schools in an area occupying half of New South Wales.

Parish school principals, who travelled to Forbes for their regular Principals’ Conference, were all present for the launch of the new strategic plan.

The strategic plan has been summarised and displayed as a poster, enabling it to be visible and accessible for review annually.

The easy-to-read poster was created by CEO staff member Tricia Ward.

The focus points of Christo et Doctrinae are connecting faith, personalising learning, leading learning, connecting learning and resourcing of faith and learning.

These focus areas, along with points on how to measure success, are clearly displayed on the poster.

The CEO, parish schools and parish communities will work towards achieving these aims by the year 2020.

Following the official launch and presentation of the plan, Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green joined CEO staff and Wilcannia-Forbes principals upstairs at the Forbes Inn function room to celebrate.
