Nothing trivial about niece’s fund-raising

Lucy Cupitt is hosting a fund-raiser for pancreatic cancer research. Picture: GEORGIA MATTSINSPIRED by her late aunt, a Bombo teenager is hosting a fund-raiser to help the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Lucy Cupitt, 19, is hosting a trivia night at the Kiama Leagues Club on Saturday, November 8.

The nanny is hoping to raise $5000 for the Cancer Council, with proceeds from the event to go towards pancreatic cancer research.

Ms Cupitt said she knew little about the disease until her aunt, Margaret Sarolis, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago, before dying in March, aged 54.

“I did some research and realised that not much money [from overall cancer fund-raising] goes towards pancreatic cancer,” Ms Cupitt said.

“I would have liked to donate and have this event when she was still here. I would have liked her to have seen all the support.

“I’m a bit nervous to see how everything goes, but I want to get to my goal for Auntie Margaret.”

The event kicks off at 6pm, and tickets cost $20.

It will also include games, raffles and an auction, and the event will have a purple and white theme.

To book tickets or to donate items, phone 0432 716 285.
