Woman from The Ponds finds fiancé lying injured on the road

Police are investigating after a man was seriously injured in a traffic incident in The Ponds on Saturday (November 1).

Police weretoldthe35-year-old man had returned to his home in Sharpave Avenue about 10.15pm after a night out andasked his 34-year-old fiancée to buy him some food.

Thewoman told police she hadreversed a green Ford Falcon out ofthedriveway and travelled a short distance when she noticed her fiancéeoutside thevehicle.

She reportedly stoppedthecar, got out, and foundtheman lying injured ontheroad.

He was taken to Westmead Hospitalwhere he receivedtreatment for a head injury, and wasreported to be in a serious but stable condition on Sunday.

Thewoman wastreated for shock.

Police fromtheMetropolitan Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene atthe location, which was forensically examined and thecar wastaken away for mechanical examination.

Officers are continuing their investigation into the incident, including whethertheman tried to enterthecar, unnoticed by his fiancée, as it leftthepremises.
